Benefits of Acupuncture

Acupuncture has a history stretching back more than 2,000 years. In the original Chinese tradition, it was used to treat diseases and relieve pain.

Modern western acupuncture combines ancient techniques with up-to-date diagnostic methods in an holistic approach to health.

All acupuncture is founded on the Chinese belief in a motivating energy – called qi – that moves throughout the body along channels, or meridians beneath the skin.

The flow of this qi can be disturbed by many physical and emotional factors, causing disharmony within the body.

The therapist identifies these disturbances and creates an individual treatment plan, using fine needles inserted into the meridians to stimulate the body’s healing responses and help restore its natural balance.

Acupuncture is widely used as a means of pain relief; it can also be used to treat many different illnesses, by improving the patient’s overall health and well-being, rather than focusing on specific symptoms.
