I'm deeply fascinated by the connection between a dysregulated nervous system and the way we think, feel, and behave — and how this, in turn, influences our physical health. My journey with Neurofeedback Therapy began after discovering psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk’s groundbreaking book, “The Body Keeps the Score." He describes Neurofeedback Therapy as “a research-supported treatment to manage arousal, sharpen attention, relieve anxiety and improve learning... without medication”

Neurofeedback Therapy in Haslemere

Your nervous system controls the healthy function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ and system in your body.

It also regulates thoughts and emotions, learning and memory, perception (the mental process of interpreting sensory information), sleep, movement, balance and coordination, healing and rehabilitation, ageing, breathing and heart rate, body temperature, hunger, thirst and digestion, reproductive health and fertility, and the body’s response to stress.

When the nervous system is well regulated and the mind is calm, a person can more easily adjust to new situations, reflect on and adapt their behaviour, focus attention, remember instructions, plan how to approach and successfully complete tasks, and achieve longer-term goals.

Neurofeedback Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that measures brainwave activity using EEG sensors, in a similar way that an ECG measures heart rate. The measurement of brain activity influences the programme you watch on a monitor during treatment, creating feedback for the brain. As the brain cannot directly see itself, neurofeedback acts like a mirror, helping to support improved regulation.

Neurofeedback is a method of training the activity and self-regulation of the central nervous system and has a wide range of therapeutic applications.

Neurofeedback may be used as a supportive component in the management of:
